Accompanied by equally impressive piano virtuoso, Brian Zeger, Voigt will perform a mesmerizing program of classical masterpieces from the likes of Verdi, Strauss, Respighi and more. And when you add the speakeasy-esque atmosphere of Lee’s to the mix, you’ve got yourself one comfortably nostalgic and boot-stompin’ Tuesday evening out on the town. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

The cool cats at Take Up Productions continue to indulge their film noir fetish at the Parkway Theater. This time, they serve up the 2005 flick Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer. Narrated by small-time crook Harry Lockhart (Downey) who accidentally lands himself a part in a Hollywood film, thanks to a botched robbery. Once in Los Angeles, Lockhart discovers evidence of a complicated murder-mystery, and teams up with his childhood dream girl and a private investigator to solve the crime.

Soap Boxing

The Myspace page for Soap Boxing describes the event as “where poetry collides with sport and entertainment,” and that sounds about right. This monthly poetry slam is competitive, fast paced, and definitely entertaining enough to hold your undivided attention. Listen in on three rounds of poetic battling between some of the Twin Cities’ most outspoken scribes while sipping a cocktail in the cool, cool ambiance of the Artists’ Quarter. Tonight’s edition will feature spoken word heroines Sierra DeMulder and Jenn Smileyface who will battle it out to win a spot in the Women of the World Poetry Slam Showdown in Detroit later this year.
